Dining rooms are where friends and family come together to relax, unwind and indulge in delicious food and plenty of chat. Getting the right atmosphere is key and this can be difficult when, for many of us, our dining rooms are either connected to our kitchens or living rooms, or are an altogether separate room that’s used fairly infrequently, making choosing a design scheme tricky. But it doesn’t have to be.
A round table is a great choice as it is very sociable and leaves plenty of room for serving food, but a rectangular table is more flexible for seating extra guests at either end. If you are after versatility, drop leaf or extendable dining tables are the most convenient option. To add a contemporary, informal feel, a selection of mismatched chairs in different materials such as plastic and metal is a great option, or for a relaxed dining experience, you could even opt for a full length bench.
Eating together with your family and friends is a great indoor activity to strengthen the knot that ties the group. It’s where we get to spend our time enjoying a healthy conversation with people we’re dining with. Designing your dining area can put up an extra spice to the palatable food that are served at the table. Have a comfortable space for discussions or just to talk about anything under the sun. It can also indulge one’s appetite to eat well and simply enjoy the graces on the table.
In this interior, pairing grays, blues, and pops of bright green with neutrals keeps the color scheme serene. Striped slipcovered chairs are an easy nautical touch. Blue nubbly linen curtains with pretty patterned trim are like the rest of the decor: refined but relaxed.
